Experience and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of post graduate experience. I earned my Bachelor's Degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and my Master's of Social Work (MSW) at University of Washington. Additionally, I hold a certificate in Clinical Theory and Practice from Wellspring Family Services.
Throughout my career I have had the privilege of supporting individuals through a wide range of challenges. In addition to my work as a therapist, I am also a clinical social worker in a primary care clinic. This role deepens my understanding of the connection between physical and mental health, helping me take a holistic approach to psychotherapy.
I have trained in several different types of evidence based modalities. My therapeutic approach integrates these practices, allowing me to tailor treatment to meet the needs of each individual.
Here's a bit about two approaches I use:
Walk and Talk therapy combines the benefits of traditional talk therapy with the healing power of movement and nature. It has been found to encourage emotional expression, reduce anxiety, ease symptoms of depression and improve overall mood.
The Flash technique is a recently developed evidenced-based therapeutic intervention for reducing the disturbance associated with traumatic or other distressing memories. It's a gentle way of healing that doesn't require you to describe traumatic details. Instead, you maintain focus on something positive and engaging.
Ultimately, the goal is comprehensive healing using whatever combination of methods works best for you.
